Guidance For Your Practice
After a suggestion from a family member when Loren was a teenager, he had his eye on a career in healthcare. At that time, he thought that meant work in the hospital setting. But after landing his first job helping to start and manage the practice of a physician in Gainesville, Georgia, Loren realized that his passion was with working directly with physicians and other healthcare professionals in the ambulatory setting.
That practice soon merged with several other community practices to form Longstreet Clinic where he was to remain for the next 28 years – the last 17 of those as Chief Operations Officer. Longstreet grew from 23 physicians and 8 advanced practice providers to currently over 200 providers taking care of thousands of patients in Northeast Georgia. The practice grew because of the caring and innovative culture established by the tight collaboration between its physician and administrative leaders.
While at Longstreet Clinic, Loren had responsibility for facility development – new construction, renovations, building and lease management; Information Technology – EHR and supporting applications, network infrastructure, end user equipment; Ancillary Departments – Imaging/Radiology, Laboratory and Pharmacy; new service and practice development; and direct clinical management of the Perinatology department.
Upon retiring from full time work with Longstreet Clinic, Loren started T. L. Funk Consulting, with a focus on helping healthcare practices – physicians, advanced practice providers, and other professional providers – to grow and make successful independent organizations.
